Wedding Details /// Kelly & Chris / by Jen Bachelder

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of celebrating the union of two of the most adorable people I know, Kelly and Chris. As they were incredibly busy being totally lovely, they asked me to help with table numbers and guest place cards for their reception. They wanted custom table numbers (essentially mini-posters) that marked milestones in their relationship and their favorite things. The couple provided a list which included all things Nashville, music, country, and Star Trek. How wonderful.

Although I've never designed anything in this specific style, after a quick google, I couldn't wait to get started. Limited color pallets. Bold, retro type. Simple illustrations. Let's go.

For our color pallet, I picked a blush pink, peach, forrest green, and a navy blue. The list was pulled from colors used in the floral arrangements and the bridal parties' outfits. To save some time, both in execution and revisions, the couple provided images they liked of each item on their list. I used those images to create the simple illustrations on each marker.

I used the same color pallet and fonts on the guest place cards, with the darker colors for each first name so guests could browse quickly.

Admittedly, some of the table numbers on the centerpieces are a little small or subtle to be seen easily from a distance in a low-lit reception hall. To assist the guests in the search for their table, I added little previews of the centerpieces to the table numbers that accompanied the place cards in the lobby.
